Australian Anthurium hybrid from Melty Plants is now producing berries.
Batch ID: The Bess Phoenix (Besseae Aff. x Dark Phoenix)
Seed: Besseae Aff.
Pollinator: Dark Phoenix (Papillilaminum x Dressleri)
About Parent Plants:
Mother is a Besseae Aff. from Ecuagenera and sourced from Zen M8te. A true showstopper with its dark foliage and striking veins.
Father is known as Dark Phoenix, a striking and exceptional dark hybrid that beautifully showcases the distinctive traits of both Pap and Dressleri. This remarkable plant was originally sourced from the well-respected Aussie seller J&S.
Future Seedlings:
It will likely create large, lush leafy seedlings that feature distinct dark foliage, and hopefully that sought-after true Besseae Aff. velvet-like texture that so many Anthurium collectors desire.

Seed Care:
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can be too intense and may harm the delicate seed/s.
Moisture: Regularly check the substrate to ensure it remains moist but not waterlogged. Mist the surface as needed to maintain consistent moisture levels. Placing the seed inside a clear, covered container or using a humidity dome can help retain moisture.
Ventilation: While maintaining high humidity, it's important to allow some air exchange to prevent mold growth. Briefly opening the cover daily can provide necessary ventilation alternatively you can hole punch a couple of holes into the top lid.
Transplanting Seedlings:
Once you have leaf growth hitting the container lid you can then transfer to a larger container of your choice (clear tall deli cups with dome lids are common use). Careful not to disrupt the roots, best to keep the whole substrate together with the roots when transferring.
Once seedlings develop a few true leaves and are large enough to handle, they can be transplanted into individual pots containing a well-draining potting mix suitable for Anthuriums (add a pouch of custom Melty Mix to your cart). Gradually acclimate the young plants to lower humidity levels by slowly increasing their exposure to open air over several days.
Patience and attentive care are key throughout this process. By following these steps, you can successfully grow Anthurium plants from seeds and enjoy the satisfaction of nurturing them from their earliest stages.
